The Japanese banknotes were redesigned in 2024. I look up articles about the designs of the newly redesigned banknotes. website Portraits are often depicted on banknotes, but why is that? It is said that this leverages the human ability to recognize subtle differences in faces and expressions. The portraits on banknotes are drawn with ultra-fine lines—over ten lines within a single millimeter—making them so intricate that they cannot be replicated. To prevent the circulation of counterfeit notes, new designs are issued approximately every 20 years. I liked the portraits on the previous banknotes. However, I find Hokusai's ukiyo-e on the new 1,000 yen note really cool, and I like it.
That might be true! I thought faces on money came from the old days, putting the king on there, because to the king, it was his money! You were just allowed to hold it for a while because he is so kind!
